The mirrored external surface conceals the LCD when idle, but we did find it a littlehard to read the display underneath the harsh lighting of Nokia's tent. The mainscreen, however, is a bright and vibrcompromise. Its built-in 2.0 megapixel (1600 X 1200 pixels) camera features: capture, zoom and review functions on the handset’s large 2.4 inch display. Viewing the screenin landscape mode brings a familiar experience to surfing the web on a PC and webpages can be navigated quickly and easily with the Nokia Web Browser with Mini Map.

The Nokia N76, which is based on S60 3rd Edition software on Symbian OS, is expected to start shipping in volumes during the first quarter of 2007 with an estimated, pre-tax, unsubsidized sales price of approximately $669 to $738.49

Other features of the N76 include a 2 megapixel camera, 26mb of internal memory, a microSD/TransFlash memory card slot with support for cards up to 2gb, quad-band GSM, GPRS, EDGE, as well as 3G UMTS/WCDMA. Connectivity comes in the form of Bluetooth 2.0.
Battery life is rated at around 2.75 hours of talk or 8.25 days of stand by. Less than 3 hours of talk time is not particularly good, but this is the slimmest phone from Nokia yet, so we'll go easy on them this time. "We did not want to compromise any of the key Nokia Nseries experiences when we designed the stylish Nokia N76 multimedia computer," said Pekka Pohjakallio, vice-president, Multimedia, Nokia.
