Pravin Mahajan Health: Pravin Mahajan, who was sentenced life imprisonment for killing brother-BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, lapsed into coma following a suspected brain haemorrhage, Pravin Mahajan 's family said Saturday.
Pravin Mahajan is critical, his brother Prakash Mahajan said.
Pravin Mahajan was rushed to Jupiter Hospital, Thane, late Friday night following complaints of high blood pressure.
He had been released by a court on parole from the Nasik Central Jail two weeks ago on health grounds. The parole ended Saturday.
Pravin was convicted by a Mumbai court in December 2007 for killing his elder brother Pramod at his home in Worli on April 22, 2006.

The Tamil Nadu coast has been put under cyclone alert on Friday after the previous day's depression intensified double-quick into a deep depression and further into a cyclonic storm, named ‘Ward.'
India Meteorological Department said Tropical Cyclone Ward lay centred 550 km southeast of Nagapattinam and 700 km south-southeast of Chennai on Friday afternoon.
The system is likely to move in a northwesterly direction towards Tamil Nadu coast during the next two days. The IMD's outlook is exactly in agreement with that of the US Navy's Joint Typhoon Warning Centre (JTWC) and the Tropical Cyclone Page of the US Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Centre (FNMOC).
The IMD has rightfully expressed doubts about the onward movement of ‘Ward' as did international models thanks to the persistence of westerly flows from a prevailing western disturbance affecting northwest India.
It said that the satellite-derived steering wind in the upper levels would go to suggest a northerly to northeasterly movement of the system, which could cause it to avoid taking a swipe of the Tamil Nadu coast.
But a precipitation model of the US National Centres for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) tends to suggest that the westerlies would cause Tropical Cyclone Ward to steer itself north-northeast after taking a shot at the Chennai coast over the next two days.
According to the NCEP, the rampaging westerlies would drive away ‘Ward' into coastal Bay of Bengal waters in a north-northeasterly direction all the way into the Bangladesh/Myanmar coast, and fling the weakened system into the hinterland.
Once again, IMD has thoughtfully decided to strike the line of caution saying that it has kept the system behaviour ‘under close watch.' But in any case, the cyclone alert is ‘on' for the Tamil Nadu coast. Read more

Officials familiar with the situation say about half of the 2,270 kilograms spacecraft is expected to survive its blazing descent through the atmosphere and will scatter debris, some potentially hazardous, over several hundred miles. Secured credit cards are usually given to those with bad or no credit history. A deposit is made, say Rs5000, which gives the customer Rs500o limit. The customer isn’t allowed to spend more than the amount of the deposit. As the deposit decreases, so does the amount the customer is allowed to “charge”. That’s why these cards are sometimes called prepaid credit cards, or bad credit credit cards(In Western countries, every individual has a credit history, will come to India soon. A person with bad credit history is known to have "bad cerdit") An unsecured credit card is granted to those with a good credit record, because they have a history of paying their bills on time.
4. How are my credit card finance charges calculated?
This is something you need to check out before you apply for a credit card. There are three basic ways finance charges are calculated, and they range from favoring you to favoring them. That’s why you need to know what method they use.
The first method is the Adjusted Balance method, where the balance on your previous statement is added to any charges. Then any payments you’ve made are subtracted, and the result is multiplied by the interest rate. This method is the most favorable for you.The second method works out fairly even. It’s called the Average Daily Balance method, with charges and payments being added and subtracted as they occur. Then, at the end of the statement period, these charges are averaged, with that average being multiplied by the interest rate.
The other method, which will cost you the most, is called the Previous Balance method. The balance on the previous statement is first multiplied by the interest rate, then your charges and payments are calculated. With this method, in effect, you’re paying interest on the same amount twice.

This is a tricky question. Some cards put your liabaility at Rs500. Most others don't. They hold you accountable for charges made by others. This is only seen in India. In the US, if you call the company and tell them that your card is stolen, then you have no liablity on fraudalent charges. However, in India, our own financial institutions make their own customers scapegoats and haress them. I strongly object to these practices by Indian banks/FIs along with VISA, MasterCard & AMEX.

A balance transfer is used as an advertising tool by credit card companies. To persuade you to use their credit card, they’ll offer to pay off any existing cards you have, and add the balance to a new card with their company.
Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, the big three of credit card companies, are constantly competing for your business by offering balance transfers at reduced interest rates.
8.What are pre-approved credit cards?
This is another method credit card companies use to get your business. They get a list from a CRA (credit reporting agency), or employers or Luxury car woners, of people who have good credit records and favorable payment histories(Mobile Bills, Club Memberships etc).
These people have a history of paying their debts, so they become prime targets for pre-approved credit card offers. In effect, that’s exactly what the credit card company’s done – they know you’ll pay, so they’ve already approved your application. And to further entice you, they’ll usually offer you a low interest credit card. But watch that interest rate – it could go back up within a short period of time!

Generally, credit cards don’t have hidden costs. What they do have is extra charges, such as application fees, annual fees or late fees. Although these fees aren’t hidden, you need to read the entire “Terms & Conditions” that comes with your credit card – all the fine print – to be aware of these charges.

CHENNAI: SMS advertisements, which used to irritate cellphone users, could soon turn out to be money- spinners with a Bangalore-based firm claiming to pay those who willingly receive the messages.
mGinger.com, started by three engineers, works on the principle of "permission-based marketing".
"People can make anywhere between Rs 300 to Rs 1,600 per month through this," Chaitanya Nallan, its CEO, told PTI.
"When users get paid by us, whether it is Rs 300 or Rs 500, it can atleast cover their mobile phone bills," he added.
Chaitanya, an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, who graduated from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad last month, said the idea originated from Veerendra Shivhare, the Chief Operations Officer of the firm.
The third member of the team is the chief technical officer of the firm, Anil, an alumnus of IIT-Kanpur.
"People generally get SMS carpet-bombed. Advertisers get mobile phone numbers illegally and bombard them with unwanted ads without permission. Veerendra was so fed up with such messages. We hit upon this idea of targeted advertising with users' permission, for which they get paid," Chaitanya said.
He said people could log on to mGinger.com and register themselves along with their mobile phone numbers and the ads they want to receive. They can choose any number of ads and these will be sent at the time they want, he said.
"For each ad received, the mobile phone user gets paid 20 paise. They can refer their friends and relatives for which they get 10 paise per referral and 5 paise for every ad their friends referrals receive," he added.
